“Let’s Fight Racism” Campaign Launched

“LET’S FIGHT RACISM” CAMPAIGN LAUNCHED
Date: December 12, 2011

The “Let’s Fight Racism” poster campaign was launched by the United Nations Information Centre for the Caribbean Area (UNIC) during its Human Rights Day commemoration in Port of Spain on 8 December 2011.

The campaign aims to promote understanding about how stereotypes and the perceptions they underlie can perpetuate racial prejudice and intolerance. It further seeks to encourage individuals to confront their own personal prejudices and encourage tolerance in others. The National Library and Information System Authority (NALIS), UNIC’s collaborator on this campaign, will disseminate posters throughout the country through their network of libraries.

UNIC Officer-in-Charge and United Nations Security Adviser in Port of Spain, Catherine Gilbert, and Acting Executive Director of NALIS, Lucia Phillip, addressed the launch.

Attached below are their remarks and press release.
